The Power of Emotion Centered Singing

Where the 'Singer' evolves into the 'Artist' like Picasso or Michaelangelo except in the musical sense. This is the power of Emotion Centered Singing...The power to unleash the kind of genius that has produced artists of the calibre of Jeff Buckley, Norah Jones, Elvis Presley and Eva Cassidy.David Jaanz, Founder

David Jaanz

A world reknowned singing coach, known not only as one of Australia's most gifted singers but as the nation's premier singing coach, has taught and consulted to some of the country's most successful recording and stage stars.

As a performer and recording artist, David has worked with many of the world's greatest stars, while as a teacher he has mentored the likes of Delta Goodrem, coached and consulted for Delta Goodrem, Holly Valance, Anastacia, CDB, Peter Andre, Merril Bainbridge, Daniel Merriweather, Eran James, Kate Alexa, and more recently Stephanie Macintosh.

When Olivia Newton-John sought coaching for her daughter Chloe Lattanzi's first major role in the Australian production of Hair, she turned to David Jaanz. Similarly, when Delta Goodrem launched her 2005 national Visualise tour, she too called on David Jaanz for preparation and mentoring.

In recent years, David has performed on, and vocal coached the guest performers, on the Channel 7 Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday 'Variety Gala', at the personal invitation of the show's producers.

In pursuit of a musical career, David formed his own band, Janz, of which went on to win the 1989 Yamaha Song Festival in Tokyo, ahead of 20,000 bands. This led to a record deal with Sony Music and two critically acclaimed singles, 'Crime' and 'Picture'.

In 1993, David was invited to New York to record with legendary guitarist George Benson, and while in America, he also performed at a Martin Luther King benefit concert in Philadelphia. He has since been much sought after as a support act on tours by international artists: including Patti Labelle and Womack & Womack. In Australia, he has performed with starts of the calibre of Stevie Wonder and John Farnham.

David's major musical influences have been the classic ballad singers, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis and Elvis Presley. 'My heroes are true artists like Stevie Wonder and John Farnham,' he says. 'I'm inspired by their power, their range, their emotion.'

It was such inspiration that led David to share his gifts with the up-and-coming generation of Australian performers. Tired of conservative attitudes from teachers (piano and voice), being reprimanded for embellishing, David started developing his own ideas; creating techniques to strengthen and expand his range and control. From here, David began the production and development of his own technique 'Emotion Centred Singing'.

From the family home to one small studio, the David Jaanz School Of Singing was born and has grown to become the biggest singing school in Australia. With centres in Melbourne and Sydney, teaching 2,000 students, its mission is to create 'the stars of tomorrow' through the teaching of Emotion Centred Singing.

Furthermore, the David Jaanz School Of Singing now has their own television show, holds biannual singing camps, developed the David Jaanz Master School Program directed at recruiting, nurturing and developing the 'very best' talent at Jaanz into careers in the music industry, established the David Jaanz Children's Singing Academy to provide a nurturing environment for younger performers, and, represented Australia at the 2002 Beijing International Festival, performing for a televised audience of millions.
