I recently worked with a patient who was initially troubled with significant voice changes and lack of tone quality. These problems were caused by vocal cord nodules. I was a classical singing teacher, having done my training at major University. I went on to perform regularly in bands and churches when I started having voice problems. I tried to sing the high chest voice notes, but didn't have the modern technique to support it. Consequently, I developed hardened nodules. I went to a talent school for 7 years, and a major institution from years 10-12 where I learnt classical and jazz. I studied the first year diploma of classical voice at a notable conservatorium of music. Until then I had studied classical music up to the age of 19. Then I saw an advertisement for Jaanz. Since learning this contemporary style of singing I've never looked back. The classical background was great, but did not teach me about 'connected voice' and contemporary styles. Since then I have performed at the Hilton Hotel in Osaka and Singapore, as well as the Taj Mahal Hotel in India and various others.
